Customer description

Leading supplier of cranes and specialist lifting solutions

The starting point

The customer had, until now, been using the Adobe FrameMaker DTP tool to produce their operating manuals. However, the available filtering options for crane equipment were limited. This led to excessive amounts of text variants, which made it difficult to maintain, update and ensure the consistency of the documentation.

STAR solutions

As a first step, we carried out a comprehensive information analysis of the existing operating manuals. In doing so, we methodically reviewed the content, identified redundancies and highlighted any potential for optimisation.

We then migrated the analysed content into a content management system (CMS). Through the targeted use of filters and structural elements, we were able to identify variants clearly and significantly increase the reusability of content. This reduced redundancies and made future updates considerably easier.

We also redrafted the operating manuals from scratch to ensure they complied with the relevant standards. This allowed us to ensure that the documentation is not only optimised in terms of structure but also meets all relevant legal and standard-related requirements.

In this way, we help customers manage their technical documentation more efficiently, reliably identify variants, and save time and money in the long term.
