E-learning translations for your global team

Digital learning is booming! E-learning facilitates the sharing of knowledge via digital media. With our professional e-learning translations, we make sure that your training content can be used without language barriers in all required languages. In this way, you significantly increase audience acceptance and learning outcomes.

Translation of e-learning courses

E-learning methods are interactive and include many media types. They can be tailored for all education levels – from free entry-level webinars to fee-based distance learning courses that span many years.

In this era of independent learning and remote working, e-learning portals are becoming more and more attractive. Businesses in all industries are using e-learning in areas such as customer service, marketing or HR to provide their employees with training for their continuing professional development (CPD). It is particularly important for technically demanding content that the CPD offerings are available in the user’s own language. Thanks to our localisation solutions for your e-learning content, learning knows no language barriers.

With STAR translation solutions and specialised professionals, we offer the whole package for the translation of your educational content: We look after the translation of your e-learning content, provide graphics and video editing, organise subtitles or soundtracks and if requested, we can even deliver your e-learning in a “ready-to-use” format.

E-learning translations in all formats and with all platforms supported

There is now a wide range of software products designed to create e-learning courses, many of which use specific formats. E-learning courses often combine static methods such as learning portals with hyperlinked pages, tutorials, audio/video content, live streams as well as interactive methods such as discussions, chats and video conferences.

We can find the best solution for every information type and data format so that the content is translated into the required languages quickly and efficiently.

Digital learning content that is used for e-learning courses typically includes the following:

  • Video training courses
  • Training films
  • Software simulations
  • Interactive learning environments
  • Webinars
  • Quizzes, tests and games
  • Slides, notes and handouts for presentations
  • Handbooks for the students and teachers
  • Technical documentation
  • Recorded lectures

Challenges of e-learning translations

It can be challenging to translate e-learning content because the projects can be complex:

  • Technical aspects of the different systems used to create the content
  • 100% correct translations for highly technical content
  • Potential for multiple file formats and media, all of which need to be translated consistently
  • Ensuring a high level of confidentiality may be necessary, for example when translating examination questions

You should only put your trust in a professional language service provider with technical expertise and knowledge of the many e-learning tools.

E-learning course localisation example: Storyline

Storyline by Articulate is an e-learning program that lets users create interactive courses. In addition to texts for reading, the program also contains spoken text for explanations and for testing learners on the course content.

Our step-by-step process

01

Defining the content

In order to make the Storyline text translatable, it should ideally be provided in XLIFF format. It is also possible to export the text into MS Word, but in terms of correct segmentation, this is less practical than XLIFF format.

02

Translation by native speakers

Taking care to use customer-specific terminology.

03

Further
process steps

Subtitling, synchronisation, voice-over, voice samples, audio samples and audio recordings.

04

Importing the content

Text editing is similar to MS PowerPoint, but with some distinctive features. The speaker texts are added in a special input field during post-processing of data. Following this, the text is spoken aloud by a computer voice using a text-to-speech module in the Storyline software. So that this sounds as natural as possible for the participants, pauses of different lengths should be added in the correct places.

05

Online tests

This step includes test editing and test formatting in order to achieve the best results in the online view. We also make sure that the audio and videos are in the right place and play at the right time.
