Customer description

Mechanical engineering and technology company specialising in honing technology

The starting point

Operating manuals have thus far been created using MS Word. There were numerous different descriptions for the very same components, which led to inconsistencies and increased costs in maintaining the documentation. It was not possible to manage the variety of configurations systematically, as there were no filtering options. Training materials were created separately and independently of the operating manuals – with no structural link or reusability of the content.

STAR solutions

We provided the client with comprehensive support – from analysis through to long-term process optimisation:

  • Analysis of existing operating manuals and training materials to identify redundancies, structural shortcomings and any potential for optimisation
  • Conceptualisation and set-up of a content management system (CMS) as a central platform for technical documentation
  • Migration and structuring of content into the CMS using filters, modular components and clearly defined structural elements
  • Standard-compliant drafting of operating manuals to ensure legal and quality requirements are met
  • Optimisation of technical documentation processes to achieve long-term increases in efficiency
  • Standardisation of graphics production, bill of materials processing as well as drafting of technical drawings (CAD)
