- “Digital instruction manuals”: For the first time, the Machinery Regulation explicitly sets out the conditions under which instructions may be provided in purely digital format. In this context, a clear distinction must be made between the terms “available”, “accessible” and “provided” in order to meet the legal requirements regarding availability.
- “Safety components” in the context of AI: With the integration of AI systems, the terminology used for safety functions is changing. Terms relating to “human oversight” must be precisely defined so that the person operating the machinery knows exactly when they need to override the AI control system.
